The author considers the issue of the design of underground survey control taking into account independent gyroscopic determination of the direction angles of polygon legs in unconstrained and partly constrained survey controls. An example is given for the determination of optimal length of a section and the number of sections in elongated traverses with gyroscopically oriented legs, considering regulatory and technical requirements for average square error of positioning the outmost point of an underground survey control. The article analyzes accuracy of the obtained results. The results have been trialed in the design of the underground survey control within the preset limits of minefield of the EuroChem–Usolsky Potash Plant at the Upper Kama deposit of potash–magnesium salts.
