A three-year monitoring has been conducted on the area adjacent to diesel-electric power plant at Samoylov polar research station (Bulunskiy ulus, republic of Sakha (Yakutia). In the course of this monitoring two methods have been used: multifrequency sounding and electrical resistivity tomography. Both methods are characterized by low (close to zero) impact on the environment, high resolution and informative value as well as low human effort requirements. The results of this study have shown high confidence level of the applied geophysical methods as well as their good prospects for use in future work aimed at engineering surveys in permafrost regions.
