OPTIMIZATION OF BLASTING IN HETEROGENEOUS ROCK MASS

The author proposes a method for optimization of drilling-and-blasting parameters, considering physical and mechanical properties of rocks in order to improve fragmentation qualities in open pit mining in the regions having complex geological structure. The reported laboratory test data confirm that quality of rock fragmentation by blasting has been improved when charges are fired with varied delays and when a blast pattern takes into account properties of rock specimens as against charge firing with invariable parameters. The proposed method can be used in combination with georadar sounding of rocks.
