STUDYING THERMAL CHARACTE-RISTICS OF ASBESTOS ORE WITH A VIEW TO DESIGNING SEPARATION MACHINES

The well-known works on the study of thermal characteristics (thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity and specific heat) of asbestos ore and use them for the purpose of the pre-separation is given insufficient data to develop methods and tools for monitoring asbestos. This has necessitated a detailed study of thermal characteristics of asbestos and host rocks: serpentinite; finely interspersed with serpentine asbestos; dunite; serpentinite with dunite; serpentinite with peridotite; asbestos ferruginous; asbestos without iron.
The procedure for measuring the thermal conductivity of asbestos and host rocks is virtually absent, but the propagation of heat waves is similar to the propagation of sound waves. Therefore, sonar method was used to measure the thermal conductivity and forecast using a standard measuring apparatus, which measures the time of the elastic waves through the sample.
To measure the specific heat of asbestos and host rocks used colorimetric method. It is found that the specific heat may be in the preliminary separation factor enrichment of asbestos. Measurement of thermal diffusivity of the bulk sample is based on the temperature measurement using a thermocouple. On the basis of the experiments found that the thermal characteristics can be used for continuous monitoring of the enrichment products in order to enrich the process of operational management in the separation apparatus.
