PROSPECTS FOR CONVERSION OF DIESEL MINING MACHINES TO GASEOUS FUEL

The article shows the prospects for converting diesel mining machines to gaseous fuel using combination power-plants KESU. Introduction of gas-turbine locomotives with the modern KESU at non-electrified open pit mines and transition to liquefied natural gas as a fuel will enable enhancing the environmental safety and reducing consumption of diesel fuel and lubricants at open pit mines.
In case of emergency, the heavy-duty power-plants of gas-turbine locomotives can supply housing settlements, administrative premises, workshops, processing plants and other objects. To this effect, it is required to develop gas-supply systems at mines, for the first turn, supplied by isolated generating plants with alternate diesel-generator sets.
