INVESTIGATION OF SURFACE FAILURES AND MECHANISM OF THEIR FORMATION ON UNDERMINED EARTH SURFACE OF THE MINE NAMED AFTER RUBAN

The analysis of the geotechnical conditions has been done for the Krasnoyarskiy site of the coal mine named after Ruban in Kuzbass where there is a suite of thick coal seams and the productive aeries of sandstone and siltstone of suite Kolchuginskaya.Top layers of Neogene-Quaternary overburden soils represent itself subsiding structurally unstable loess loam. Thickness of soil layer in some places reaches 70 m. Productive aeries consisting of three seams with a capacity of 2.6 to 5 m has been worked out not uniform in cross-section.
Based on available mining documentation factor analysis has been carried out as well as systematization of data on surface failures and fissures and a typification of surface failure forms has been developed. By morphology there are 4 types of failures: sinkholes; chains of sinkholes; fissures; individual cracks and fissures of the terraces.
The subsidence mechanism has been described for various capacities of sediments. It based on: the existence of oppositely directed subsidence vectors in sediments and bedrock on their border; the proximity of the maximum surface strain point to the point of maximum inclination; the presence of thick layers of sandstone in bedrock mass adjacent to the border of sediments.
The most probable causes of surface failures and faults formation has been determined during the mining operations at great depths. They are: features of the geological structure of the undermined sediments; small depth and undermining frequency; relief features associated with the presence of the inclined areas, ravines and so forth; the formation of technogenic inclined topography and development of landslide deformations; mining conditions of longwalls location.
