CENTRAL RUSSIA’S PHOSPHORITE — TOP-PRIORITY SOURCE FOR PRODUCTION OF SIMPLE AND COMPOSITE MINERAL FERTILIZERS

Food security of Russia depends on production of phosphor-bearing mineral fertilizers for the deficiency of phosphor vital for plants in soil has an adverse effect on productivity of agricultural lands. Production of mineral fertilizes in our country is governed by the availability and quality of phosphorus-containing raw material, in particular, Kola apatite concentrate. On the other hand, high price and deficiency of the latter results in the introduction of low-phosphorus minerals in the production of fertilizers, in particular, Egorievsky nodular phosphorite. Such minerals are suitable for manufacturing the simplest fertilizer of ground phosphate and a phosconcentrate meant for the further chemical treatment. To this effect, it is required to develop a technology for the production of phosconcentrate from such ore (P2O5 content higher than 27%). Small deposits of nodular phosphorite should also be assigned a big part in phosphatization of plowland. These deposits can accommodate mobile plants for manufacturing inexpensive ground phosphate, i.e. ecologically pure long-acting fertilizer for acidic phosphorus-deficient soil. This is the concept of food security of our country.
