EFFECT OF FREQUENCY CONVERTERS ON POWER NETWORK PERFORMANCE IN MINES

Quality of electric power and performance of power network depends on the fraction of reactive energy. It is economical to include frequency converters in the system of electric drives to control operation of mining equipment. On the other hand, frequency converters have influence on parameters of electric power network. Advantages of frequency converters in control over electric drives are reviewed, and higher harmonics which affect power quality in low-voltage network in mines are analyzed.
