The geomechanical situation of mining in Vostochny and Severo-Zapadny ore bodies at Tashtagol deposit is analyzed. It is found that local seismic activity has increased as a consequence of the block structure of rock mass, faulting and nonuniform stress field. The stress–strain state of rock mass is assessed based on the data of mathematical modeling using the method of boundary singular integral equations.

The process solutions on mining modernization in the ore bodies are selected and substantiated. Scenarios of mining with backfilling at levels (-280; -210 m) are discussed. Towards the enhanced efficiency of Severo-Zapadny ore body mining, it is suggested to continue extraction under backfilled level -280 m by room-and-pillar method with the skewed rooms and pillars (without backfill) followed by transition to sublevel caving at deeper level -311÷-350 m. In Vostochny site, in crown pillar under the Kondoma River, extraction of the reserves should use mining system with backfill.
