LOOSE DUMP STABILITY CONTROL AT OPEN PIT IRON ORE MINES OF THE KURSK MAGNETIC ANOMALY

The article addresses the problem connected with the stability of loose overburden dumps at open pit iron ore mines of the Kursk Magnetic Anomaly. The data on the iron ore production output using open pit mining method in the area of the Kursk Magnetic Anomaly are presented. The importance and relevance of dump stability management and geometry optimization are proved. The case studies of instability of dumps in open pit mining of iron ore are described, and characteristics of large land slides at internal and external dumps in Russia are presented for the last 25 years. Based on the geotechnical data on dumps at open pit iron ore mines, the program system is developed to design geomechanical schemes for safe dumping with stable slopes. The trial of the program system in the field of industrial safety in open pit iron ore mining and in construction industry in the region of the Kursk Magnetic Anomaly is described.
