ELEMENTARY COMPOSITION OF COAL AT APSAT AND CHITKANDA DEPOSITS IN TRANSBAIKAL TERRITORY

Among numerous coal basins, Transbaikal coal is placed in a specific group. However, the fact that carbonization areas adjoin different tectonic structures is neglected. The Northern Transbaikal coal deposits (Apsat and Chitkanda) lie within the boundaries of the Siberian Platform. Kharanor coal-containing area stretches along the eastern mountainside of Agin folded zone. Some deposits in Priargun and Transbaikal areas occur at intermountains. All deposits contain coal of different genesis, composition and facial relationship. The comparison of geological structure and age of coal deposits in the Northern Transbaikal and Yakutia territories yields supposition on their belonging to the same uniform coal basin.

Based on the similarity of formation conditions, environmental conditions as well as tectonic, paleoclimatic, hydrological and geocryological situation, and judging by the analytical research outcome, deposits of Apsat and Chitkanda are set to belong to the South Yakutia platform basin of coking coal.
