MECHANICAL/HYDRAULIC ENGINEERING IN RECLAMATION OF OPEN PIT MINES

The article proposes a method for reclamation of disturbed lands using mechanical/hydraulic engineering. The mechanical/hydraulic technique of disturbed land reclamation includes arrangement of slurry and water sumps, processing of rocks in external/internal dumps and preparation of slurry, transport of slurry to the sumps, settling of rocks in the sumps, water treatment , water supply for the slurry preparation and flattening of open pit walls, with the integration of self-propelled machines and modular equipment into a single process with the closed-loop water supply, assembled on movable platforms, as well as with pipe joints to make lines with quick-release coupling for the convenience of the equipment assembly and disassembly. The processes of mining and reclamation are separated in time and space and can easily be combined in an open pit mine.
