RATIONAL DESIGNS OF MECHANICAL DRIVES AND THEIR WORKABILITY IN MINING MACHINES

Planetary gears have been widely applied in recent years. They feature convenient size and weight, high efficiency, considerable gearing ratio per step and reliability. Planetary gears are used in space technology, construction and road-making machine engineering, and in hoisting devices. It is also expedient to use them in mining machines. Making multi-row planetary gears with load balancing in toothing enables the radial dimension of the gear to be reduced at the high output capability. Planetary gear composed of a central wheel, one–two planet pinions and a mechanism intended to take propulsion from the pinion has a high gearing ratio per one step (200 and above) but a comparatively low efficiency. Manufacture of a roller propulsion taking mechanism increases the gear efficiency by not less than 5%. An important indicator of the mechanical gearing performance is the ratio of output shaft moment to the gear volume. This indicator is determined in terms of toothing number per contact or bending strength. The number of pairs of teeth under loading and the output capability of the gearand-roller drive were found from solving a system of displacement compatibility equations, including toothing stiffness and clearances when in no-load conditions. The accomplished research allows selecting rational design of planetary gears in conformity with the operation purpose.
