INTEGRATED TREATMENT OF SILICA-CONTAINING MATERIALS WITH EXTRACTION OF SILICA AND SILICON

Physicochemical processes of fluoride-and-ammonium treatment of silica-containing materials are theoretically and experimentally studied in terms of quartz sand of the Chalgan deposit, Amur Region. Basic patterns of production of ammonium hexafluorosilicate by agglomeration of quartz sand and ammonium hydrofluoride are revealed. The optimal conditions of ammonium hexafluorosilicate hydrolization under the action of ammonium liquor with the formation of high-purity nano-dispersion amorphous silica are determined. Alumothermic process treatment of amorphous silica produces polycrystal silicon of high chemical purity. Additional agents are recovered and fed to certain stages of the process flow chart. The scheme of material flows in chemical reactions of fluoric–ammonium processing of quartz sand and middlings until production of high-purity amorphous silica and polycrystal silicon is composed. As a result of the implemented research, an innovative method of integrated treatment of silica-containing materials is developed.
