RELIABILITY OF ELECTRIC MOTORS OF OPEN PIT MINE SHOVELS

Reliability of electric motors of mining equipment is of specific concern as failure-free operation of mining machines governs the whole production efficiency. In order to ensure such operation, it is required to optimize flow chart of preventive maintenance. The estimation criteria for the availability of equipment are developed to be used in computation of the rational preventive maintenance circuit for electric motors of open pit mine shovels. Based on the data presented in the article, it is emphasized that all parameters characterizing reliability of shoveling machines directly depend on the parameters characterizing reliability of electric motors. The best prediction of reliability of electric motors can be achieved with the method based on a priori data obtained during machine operation with dividing the machine system into two groups of parts, i.e. assemblies and subsystems. It has been concluded that the sound prediction of reliability of shoveling machines and electric motors should only rely upon accumulated statistics of the machine operation within a certain period of time.
