JUSTIFICATION OF PARAMETERS FOR HAULAGE BENCHES IN OPEN PIT ORE MINING

The article presents the research results and practical experience on justification of parameters for haulage benches in open pit ore mines. The key features of the issue are explained. The basic requirements of the existing normative documents are stated. The actual problem connected with selection of of mining haulage equipment parameters for open mining operations is discussed.
The evaluation criteria and conditions are proposed for rational transition to lower capacity equipment at the final stages of open pit mining with regard to the current mining depth, project schedule of mining completion and location of the rehandling point. In terms of some open pit gold mines, the article illustrates the interrelationship of mining transport system and natural mining conditions, as well as the possibility and technico-economic efficiency of extra extraction of mineral reserves by the open pit mining method. It is determined that the main parameters of a haulage bench are the width and longitudinal slope. To control these parameters during mining period, the characteristics of existing and future equipment are evaluated, the parameters of access roadways and elements of mining system are analyzed, and the world-known Edge Protector guard rails manufactured by the Australian company Safescape are discussed. It has been proved that in the given conditions, it is possible to improve technological and organizational level of open-pit motor transport, the share of which is more than half of all energy, labor and money cost of mining. It has been established that with the increase in the open pit depth, the influence of the width and longitudinal slope of the haulage benches grow and at the same time depends on the technological capacities of machines, applied organizational and technical solutions, amount of mineral reserves, their value and spatial location.
