JUSTIFICATION OF MINING TECHNOLOGY AND ITS PARAMETERS FOR THIN AND STEEPLY DIPPING ORE BODIES (LODES)

It is proposed to extract lowand medium-grade ore from lodes 1.5 to 3.0 m thick using alternative mining methods with sublevel drifts and pillars to support highwall. These approaches allow extracting blocks 150–250 m long in unattended mode. Furthermore, mining performance doubles in this case owing to simultaneous stoping on the lower sublevel, drilling on the higher sublevel and extraction and drilling on the middle sublevel. For extraction of high-value ore from thin and steeply dipping ore bodies (lodes), the proposed alternative method with sublevel drifts features arrangement of stopes along the strike, with their successive extraction (one after another) and blasting of highwall rock on the side nearest to the zone of caving of the stope sidewall which is fenced by a pre-constructed strong baffle to prevent flow of caved rocks in the stope. This eliminates ore losses and ensures high performance of heading and stoping.
