Innovative crushing technique and vertical roll crusher design

Authors: Басыров И. И., Бардовский А. Д.

The current methods of rock crushing are reviewed. The design advantages and drawbacks of jaw, cone and roll crushers in operation at processing and grinding-and-sorting factories are analyzed. These types of crushers, although very popular in the mining and processing industry, fail to meet all requirements of advanced rock crushing technologies. The innovative crushing technique and the vertical rolling crusher design are proposed. They implement selective crushing of rocks and offer some advantages over the other methods applied in crushers. The proposed technique and design can improve the reduction range and quality of ground product size distribution (which remains stable at the high reduction range), decrease over-grinding and lower energy per unit end product owing to discharge of fines and due to selective crushing executed initially between rotating rollers and then between each roller and the inner surface of the immovable body of the crusher, i.e. owing to combination of the advantages of the cone and roll crushers.
