DYNAMIC MODELING OF BALL MILL DRIVE WITH REGARD TO DAMPING PROPERTIES OF ITS ELEMENTS

The article describes the dynamic model of a ball mill drive. The parameters of this model determine indices of wear resistance of gears, namely, static and dynamic moments relative to rotation axis of the mill drum with regard to vectors of weight force, pressure and friction of mill feed particles on the inner surface of the drum. The dynamic analysis of 3D model of the ball mill drive is implemented using the finite element method in NASTRAN and MSC/Patran environments, the finite element model of the ball mill drive is built, and the gear shaft frequency responses and the influence of their peak values on the gear wear resistance are determined. The frequency responses of the gear shaft are obtained using the algorithm of the model analysis for transient processes (Transient response; Type→Modal). By analyzing energy of deformation of finite elements in the model given certain waveforms, it is possible to identify structural stiffness domains such that the change in stiffness in these domains can result in damping and in shift of natural frequencies, which prevents resonance events.
