Specializes in the field of mine geophysics. Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (2012), Doctor of Engineering Sciences (2003), Professor (2007), Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine (2008), Director of the Ukrainian State Research and Design Institute of Mining, Geology, Rock Mechanics and Mine Surveying (UkrNDMI) of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
Areas of research expertise:
1) theory and practice of seismic exploration in mines under complicated geological and mining conditions in coal basins in Ukraine based on advanced finite-difference modeling of propagation of seismic vibrations in intact and faulted coal-bearing rock mass, and improvement of methods of seismic exploration in mines to enable highly reliable and efficient prediction of geologic disturbances in coal beds;
2) geoelectric survey of ore and oil–gas condensate fields;
3) analysis of gas–methane accumulations in coal-bearing series using land seismology methods;
4) studies and prediction of geological and mining conditions in new working sections and at deeper levels in coal mines.
Andrei Antsiferov published more than 160 scientific works, including 7 monographs, 21 author’s certificates and invention patents, 12 regulatory guidelines. His research findings have been applied in 68 mines of 17 coal-producing holdings in Ukraine. The author of regulatory guidelines for the Ministry of Fuel and Energy of Ukraine. Member of special scientific councils on dissertations for candidate or doctoral degrees of sciences. Editor-in-Chef of Transactions of UkrNDMI NAS of Ukraine, member of editorial boards at the professional journals Geophysical Journal, Problems of Ecology, Journal of Mining Science.
