Area of research interests: Physics of rock blasting, blast effects, theory of detonation of industrial explosives, blasting technology and safety
Area of research expertise: Prof. Belin is one of the top experts in blasting and industrial safety. He studies mechanisms of rock fracture by blasting and detonation process control in charges of industrial explosives. He headed and participated in a number of R&D projects within the framework of governmental and sectorial programs, grants given by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, as well as economic contracts concluded with industrial plants. The R&D results have been successfully introduced in the mining and defense industries in Russia. Prof. Belin has examined industrial safety of many hazardous production facilities.
Publications: Vladimir Belin is the author of 27 patents and inventions, as well as more than 160 publications, including 5 monographs, 3 textbooks and 20 teaching aids; 8 publications are included in database Scopus.
Educational activity:
Prof. Belin delivers lectures on such subjects as Technology and Safety of Blasting, Physics of Fracture in Drilling and Blasting, Chemistry of Explosives, History of Blasting. He heads the School on Explosive Fracture of Rocks and is the President of the National Organization of Blasting Engineers to Support Professional Development
