HORIZONTAL STRESSES ORIENTATION OF THE EARTH’S UPPER CRUST IN RUSSIAN FEDERATION ACCORDING TO INSTRUMENTAL MEASUREMENTS IN WELLS

Horizontal stress orientation is one of the important parameters in the geomechanical modelling, which is one of the factors that have a significant impact on the orientation of the fracture direction of hydraulic fracturing. It is necessary to know the horizontal stress orientation in justifying azimuth of the most stable wells during the drilling in unstable rocks, azimuth location of the horizontal wellbore and peroforation orientation in terms of the probability of sand ingress. Unfortunately, the global database and the map of horizontal stress orientation implemented in World-Stress-Map contains a few information on the territory of Russian Federation. A lack of the significant database for horizontal stress orientation in Russian Federation can be connected with several facts; firstly, with the regime of maximum data preservation within the company, and, secondly, with a lack of the centralized data collection from a variety of subsoil users.
The main goal of this study is to collect data on horizontal stresses orientation within the territory of Russian Federation based on publications in the public domain on well data in the depth range of 1–4 km. The formation of such an initial base can serve as a key to the subsequent formation of an extended base where it can be possible to put the data in and thus contribute to the optimization processes of field development.
