Analysis of lineal features for assessing orientation of tectonic stresses and types of faults in geological environment of the South Ural

The geodynamic situation in folded mountain regions is determined by the level of activation of modern tectonic movements. Tectonic movements develop under the influence of the stress-strain state of the upper part of the earth's crust. When assessing the geodynamic activity of a specific territory, an important role is given to the analysis of linear elements of the modern relief. The orientation of relief lineaments (river channels, streams, lairs) is very often associated with tectonic disturbances active in the modern field of tectonic stresses. Based on ideas about the angular relationships between tectonic faults and the principal maximum stresses (MPS) that generate them, it is possible, with a high degree of reliability, to determine the kinematic type of active faults and associated relief elements. To verify and clarify the initial representations, a section of the territory located in the southern part of the Republic of Bashkortostan was selected. In this area, riverbeds, streams and dens are well expressed in the relief. All these relief elements were divided into rectilinear sections (lineaments), the orientation (azimuth) and the length of the lineament were measured. The level (rating) of the lineament was determined by the sum of the lengths of the lineaments, which, according to the orientation, fell into one ten-degree interval. The results of the analysis of lineaments confirmed that the orientation of relief lineaments and the main types of tectonic disturbances in the geological environment of southern Bashkiria coincides with the orientation of the main geomechanical characteristics and active geological structures identified in other regions of the Urals.
