Bulldozer-based technology for open pit mining of limestone–dolomite deposits

Mining is currently carried out using a cyclic-flow technology. Open pit mines are equipped with many machines of various types; however, the technical-and-economic performance of mines (productivity, profitability, etc.) improves at insufficient rates. Enhancement of a surface mine efficiency is impeded by incompliance of the mining, loading, haulage and auxiliary machines with specific mining conditions. It is necessary to create a new mining process flow chart involving dozer rippers as the quality of minerals product lowers and the performance of mining and haulage machine drops often due to weak utilization of such equipment and poor mechanization of auxiliary processes. The article describes a limestone–dolomite mining technology suitable for deposits of simple structure and for deposits with inner burden—dirt lenses and interlayers which are impossible to locate and outline during exploration and appraisal of reserves because of the inconsistent occurrence. The studies on ripping efficiency of different-capacity bulldozers are presented. The research findings became the basis for a computer program design (Computer Program State Certificate No. 2018660494, 2018, Russia).
