Electric charging station with accumulator energy storage system for charging dump trucks

Authors: Abramov E. Yu.

This paper considers the joint operation of the electric charging station for mining dump trucks with the battery energy storage system to compensate the peak loads and consumption dips, which helps to improve the stability of power system operation, helps to improve the utilization rate of electrical equipment, and reduces the modernization costs of power system equipment. In order to fully realize the peak load compensation effect of the battery energy storage system, a strategy to directly control the charge and discharge of the battery energy storage system is proposed. Considering the limited battery capacity and limited grid power, a model is established to calculate the charge and discharge capacity of the energy storage system, which is dynamically centered between the lowest and highest points of the load power graph over time to realize the dynamic adjustment of the load boundary value to optimize the power distribution in the power system. According to different initial conditions, such as the capacity and power of an energy storage system of a battery energy storage system for a charging station of a quarry electric dump truck, its charging and discharging control is realized. The proposed charging station control method allows dynamic adjustment of load limits during charging and discharging of the energy storage battery system. It utilizes dynamic iterative algorithms for different energy storage configurations, thereby providing direct control of charging and discharging of the energy storage battery. At the same time, the number of charging and discharging of the battery can be effectively limited, which is useful for extending the lifetime of the hybrid charging station. It is contemplated to directly control the charging and discharging power of the hybrid charging station, which is aimed at maximizing the utilization of the energy storage capacity of the battery, and achieving peak load reduction.
