The use of seismic data processing package in prediction of tectonic disturbances in coal–rock masses

The article describes briefly the structure, algorithms, functional capabilities and application of a software package developed at ICM&MG for processing and interpreting seismic testing results. The software package allows processing and analysis of seismic observations carried out using different techniques including seismic sounding, reflected waves and seismic location ahead of mining faces, diffracted waves, as well as complexing of various approaches. The scope of the description encompasses the adapted graphs of seismic data processing using the properties of ellipse and the common depth point method for predicting tectonic disturbances. The result of the discussed techniques are the time and depth sections of rock masses, the layouts of seismic disturbances obtained using the methods of reflected waves and seismic location, the maps of the medium parameters in seismic sounding areas and other information. The case studies of processing of real-life observation data obtained by the methods of reflected waves and seismic location illustrate efficiency of the algorithms proposed for the prediction of faults.

Keywords: seismic exploration, seismic sounding, seismic location, method of reflected waves, methods of ellipses, seismic sections, seismic data processing, software system.
