On the issue of vibratory and shock characteristics of accelerometer for shock-vibratory loads measurement during rock grinding in different types of mills

The paper describes principles for selecting geometric dimensions and material of the piezoelectric element that forms the core of shock accelerometers. Relationships between the characteristics of shock accelerometers that affect their performance, accuracy, and applicability under specific conditions have been established. Structural, strength, and electrical parameters of piezoelectric elements made of various materials have been calculated. The most efficient piezoceramic materials providing shear-mode operation of the piezoelectric element have been identified. Calculations of electric capacitance, electric charge, stiffness, and natural frequency have been performed for various geometric parameters of an annular shear-mode piezoelectric element. A structural arrangement of piezoelectric elements has been found that ensures the highest efficiency of a piezoelectric accelerometer consisting of piezoelectric elements connected in series and made of CTS-36 material. The size, capacitance, and stiffness of the annular piezoelectric element have been determined. Dependences of the inertial element mass on material Poisson’s ratio for different diameters of the piezoelectric element have been obtained. It has been proven that Poisson’s ratio, which defines the material type, significantly affects the mass of the inertial element. Dependences of the piezoelectric element sensitivity on material Poisson’s ratio have been derived. Quantitative and qualitative interrelations have been established that determine the accuracy, speed of response, and applicability of the sensors under various operating conditions.
