Computer modeling of ore drawing from asymmetric drawpoints in secondary extraction of ore reserves from a safety pillar in the caved zone at the Zhezkazgan deposit

With a view to reaching an appreciable increase in completeness of mineral extraction in re-mining of safety pillars in extremely complex geomechanical conditions of caved zones at the Zhezkazgan deposit, a relevant objective is set to develop and justify optimal designs and technologies for broken ore drawing through asymmetrical drawpoints. The problem is solved efficiently owing to the up-to-date computer modeling tools for creation of highly accurate spatial models of the deposit. The use of these technologies enabled precision calculations with big amounts of information, and made it possible to analyze, predict and optimize geological, geomechanical and production processes of mineral mining. The grain size composition of broken ore was subjected to a detailed analysis using photograms of operating faces. The article describes the results of modeling ore drawing from asymmetrical drawpoints in secondary extraction of ore reserves from a safety pillar 6–12 m thick at the varied angle of bedding from 30° to 50°. The research revealed the key patterns in rock mass flow and determined the influence of the stope geometry on the quality factors of mining operations. The comparative evaluation of extraction process scenarios was carried out, and the most efficient parameters of the ore drawing system under condition of unstable rock mass were substantiated on that basis. The research results have a high practical value for the minimization of ore loss and dilution in development of man-made resources and mine waste.
