Distribution of peak loads in hinged supports of belt elevator buckets in scooping

The main trends in improvement of high-speed belt elevators with the increased capacity buckets, which enable decreasing specific energy intake of preliminary crushing and haulage of minerals, are listed. Advantages of bucket hinging over conventional rigid fastening are briefly described. The rational sizes of an elongated bucket and its support parts are given. The computer models of an upgraded loading assembly for elevator vehicles hinged with the tension belt rounding the tension drum are described. The comparative stress–strain analysis of the hinged-movable and hinged-immovable supports of the buckets under peak loads generated in penetration of the bucket lip in a rock pile is performed. The maximal equivalent stresses in the bolt joints of the hinged supports are calculated for two possible installation charts relative to the bucket displacement direction. The peak stress patterns are determined in the bucket attachment depending on the central angle between its supports and the layout chart of the hinge joints. The optimized values of the central angle are determined in the preset range of scooping capacity and tension belt speed. The reasons for enhancing requirements for geometrical dimensions of buckets with the rear hinge-movable support are stated. It is found that the minimal values of the maximal stress in the bucket attachment and the most uniform distribution of the peak loads between the supports are ensured in case of the front arrangement of the movable hinges.
