Elaboration of plans–forecasts based on engineering-and-economic performance of mines

The mining industry has currently accumulated extensive experience in theoretical and applied modeling and optimal planning of different management chains and planning horizons. This article addresses one of potential routes of plan–forecast implementation as a casestudy of the coal sector. Here, we deal not with the common approach to optimization of mining plans but mostly consider mineral processing planning optimization. Furthermore, it is intended to avoid the popular integrated problem formulation in order to eliminate the impact of complex technology-governed connections between mineral mining and processing during optimization. The proposed solution takes into account the required satisfaction of wants, which means not only the volume of mineral produced but also the range of the mineral processing products, and this conditions another formulation of the problem as compared with the earlier studies. The authors have developed the economic and mathematical model for solving an integrated problem of mineral mining and processing planning optimization. The model is tested using a base sampling of performance data of a few mines. The article also discusses ranges of effective application of automated planning optimization.
