Development of technological schemes with the creation of artificial pillars under difficult geomechanical conditions of vein deposits

In complex geomechanical conditions of vein deposit mining, the application of conventional technological schemes is often associated with significant ore losses in natural pillars and crown pillars. These losses are caused by high stress concentrations in the rock mass formed after stoping operations, leading to a reduction in the technical, economic, and safety performance of underground mining. This paper considers and substantiates technological schemes for vein deposit mining based on shrinkage stoping and sublevel stoping methods involving the construction of artificial pillars from cemented backfill mixtures within stoping blocks. The proposed solutions enable the step-by-step extraction of ore previously left in natural pillars and make it possible to significantly reduce, and in some cases completely eliminate, ore losses under complex geomechanical conditions. The stability of the rock mass was analysed for artificial pillars with different strength characteristics, taking into account mining depth and the stress state of the surrounding rock mass. Rational compositions and consumption rates of cemented backfill mixtures providing the required strength characteristics of the backfill mass were determined. The results demonstrate that the proposed technological schemes improve mining safety, increase ore recovery, and can be recommended for deep vein deposits subjected to elevated rock pressure.
