Separate borehole uranium leaching technology based on geophysical exploration: A case-study of mines of Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combinat

The article describes the test survey results on separate uranium leaching in the conditions of high permeability. The method of separate uranium production per intervals consists in drilling, construction and operation of pumping in/out wells. The pumping-out wells are constructed at different intervals, with filters installed at the top (the first well) and at the bottom (the second well) of mineralization; four pumping-in wells are constructed with the filter column designed to embrace the ore body to the whole thickness. The key problem of the insitu uranium leaching completeness control is the determination of the residual productivity in mined-out ore blocks. The study is based on the geophysical neutron-induced fission logging in the in-situ leaching sites, which provides real-time information to control leaching dynamics and uranium recovery completeness. This method is meant for the direct estimation of uranium ore reserves.

Keywords: accessing flow chart, in-situ leaching, uranium, process wells, uranium recovery completeness.
