Levikha tailings dam wastewater: Selection of treatment and utilization methods

Alternative methods of wastewater treatment are considered to solve the problem of Levykhinskiy mine wastewater neutralization and recovery. The insufficiency of the currently existing technology of Levykhinsky mine wastewater neutralization and the main physical and chemical methods of wastewater treatment are described. The aim of the study: to review the proposed methods of wastewater treatment of the Levikhinsky tailings dam to solve the problem of neutralization and regeneration of wastewater and at the same time to identify promising technologies that comprehensively meet the criteria of efficiency and applicability. The criterion of effectiveness of treatment technology in our case, taking into account the specificity of chemical composition is the possibility of achieving the maximum permissible concentration for discharge into the fishery water body, the criterion of applicability – utilization of useful components contained in them, environmental safety, small capital investment and economic efficiency, continuity of the process, sufficient productivity, combinability with the existing infrastructure of the tailings pond. Based on the results of the analysis of available technologies in the scientific literature through the prism of these criteria of efficiency and applicability, the paper proposes the following.

Keywords: Levikhinsky mine, heavy metal ions, rare earth elements, neutralization, hydrate formation, ion flotation, electroflotation, ferritization, recuperation.
