Fine-dispersed gold at placers in Kazakhstan

The research aims to reveal and determine spatial distribution of fine-disperseв gold smaller than 10 µm in size at placers in the Republic of Kazakhstan, to define the forms of such gold occurrence and delineate the sites favorable for its accumulation. The research had three stages. At the first stage, the method of geological and geomorphological analogies determined the localization conditions at placers of small, fine and fine-dispersed gold. At the second stage, the level of geological knowledge on the selected sites was assessed. At the third stage, the exploration and appraisal of the promising sites was carried out. On the best studied site, a number of mineral associations were found, differing in conditions of formation and in forms of occurrence of fine-dispersed gold which embraces up to 76% of total quantity of the noble metal. Inclusion of fine-dispersed gold in geological exploration studies and its recovery during mining can enhance both gold potential of the subsoil and treasure supply of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Keywords: gold, placer, fine-dispersed gold, fixed gold, scintillation analysis.
