Topological optimization of shaft kiln parameters by ecological efficiency criterion

The control of dust emission, the dispersed composition and the parameters of the feedstock during the drying of materials increases the environmental and energy efficiency of mine furnaces, contributing to a reduction in production costs and an increase in the competitiveness of MMC enterprises. The purpose of the study is to develop and verify a methodology for determining the integral criterion of the environmental efficiency of furnaces and a mathematical model of the topological optimization of their dryer according to this criterion. To study the process of controlling aerosol concentration and environmental efficiency, the article uses an updated method of digital computer description of two-phase flows based on the principle of superposition. In the Aileron-Langrangian approach, a mathematical computer model of a two-phase medium was created based on an analogue of the Discrete Phase Model with the calculation of the position of dust particles in a relative coordinate system associated with the parameters of the coolant motion. At the same time, the trajectories of the particles were tracked over the entire computational domain, that is, based on the Eulerian coordinate system. The trajectories of the secondary phase were thus calculated at each specified time interval based on the results of calculating the flow field of the primary phase. The secondary phase exchanged impulses, mass and energy with the primary phase during the movement, taking into account the fact that the corresponding converting terms were introduced into the Euler equations. The topological optimization of the shaft furnace separator made it possible to increase its environmental efficiency to 0.62, that is, to reduce the environmental burden on the environment by at least 3 times.

Keywords: topological optimization, environmental efficiency, Langrange-Euler equations, aerosol phases.
