Technology and sequence of underground mining at Gakman site of Yukspor deposit

Gakman site is the eastern part of Yukspor deposit. Mining of apatite–nepheline ore at Gakman site is supposed to be carried out according to a sequential scheme, i.e. underground mining of ore reserves under the bottom and in the wall of the open-pit mine starts only after completion of the open pit operations in the southern part of the site, after the open pit bottom reaches the elevation of +230 m. The main task is to develop a rational technology for mining in the junction zone between the underground and open-pit mining operations without reduction in the volume of ore production output by the underground mine. The analysis of mining and geological conditions and the modeling of mining in the western part of Gakman site in the area of junction of underground mining operations with the mined-out space of the open pit shows that the thickness and dip angle of the ore deposit vary in a wide range, which significantly affects the technology and safety of mining operations. The technology and sequence of mining at the sustained high productivity of the mine for a long period of time and at enhanced safety of mining operations are proposed. Modeling of the objects of the hybrid open pit/underground geotechnology, appraisal of ore reserves and calculation of distribution of useful components at Gakman site were carried out with the help of mining and geological information system MINEFRAME. Within the junction zone between the mined-out space of the open pit and the underground mining operations, the optimal schemes of reserves preparation for stoping are justified.
